Hello parents –
During the week of December 11-15, we will be running an activity for the whole school entitled Santa’s Secret Shop where students of all different grade levels can come to my room and purchase gifts for people on their holiday lists. This will be the school’s fourth year doing this fundraiser. Monday and Wednesday, December 11 & 13th, it will be from 8:30 – 3:30, and on Tuesday, Thursday and Friday, December 12, 14, and 15th, the store will be open from 8:30 – 11:30 am.
The gift prices will range from under $1 to just over $10. There will be gifts for friends, pets, Moms, Dads, siblings, Grandparents, Aunts, Uncles, etc. This is an excellent opportunity for students to purchase inexpensive items for everyone in one place. Plus, students will receive free gift bags for their purchases so that they won’t even need to wrap them if they don’t want to.
I am in need of parents to volunteer for this activity and help me with various activities at this shop. Here is the link of the times and dates that I need help with this activity. If any of you could come help me set up the shop next Friday, that would be great too.

Junior High Parent/Teacher Conferences are next Wednesday, October 11th from 1-4 pm and on Thursday, October 12th from 4-7 pm in the gym. It will be open house style.
Junior High students will be going to STEM Fest on either Tuesday or Wednesday, October 3 or 4th. There have been e-mails sent home to all junior high parents with details regarding this field trip. A separate e-mail was sent home if I am still missing the field trip permission slip from your student. Please get those in by TOMORROW. Also, please let me know if you have any questions. It will be a blast!

Welcome to the 2017-18 school year!! I hope you had an enjoyable summer. This year, I will be teaching Coding, College and Career Awareness (previously CTE Intro), Computer Technology, and Digital Literacy. Please click on those tabs to see individual messages for each class. This is just a reminder that disclosures for all of my fall classes are due by Wednesday, August 30th for A day students and Thursday, August 31st for B day students. If your student needs a new disclosure, please have him/her come see me, or you can click on the link on my class pages to access it. I look forward to this year!!
This is just a reminder that we are going on a field trip to the University of Utah this Tuesday, May 23rd (for 7th graders) and Wednesday, May 24th (for 8th & 9th graders). We will be meeting at the 5600 W. Old Bingham Highway TRAX station at 8:05 am and will meet back at the same TRAX station by 2:45 pm. PLEASE BE ON TIME to the TRAX station as we cannot wait for late students. If you cannot drop off or pick up your student at the TRAX station, you will need to arrange another way for them to get there. Students WILL NOT be in classes at the school at all on this day.
Please instruct students that they are to wear uniform dress for Ascent Academy on field trips – a uniform shirt and uniform bottoms. Students may also want an appropriate jacket or hoodie for weather conditions and they will want to wear shoes designed for walking. Also, we will be eating lunch at the University of Utah, so please be sure that your student either brings his/her own sack lunch to school that day OR if they signed up for a school provided sack lunch, they will need to bring a drawstring bag to carry that lunch all day. Another option is to bring money to buy lunch at the food court on campus.
If you signed up to be a chaperone, please plan on taking the TRAX with us to help gather up the students and watch them when they get on and off the TRAX. There is no cost associated with this field trip. If you have any questions, please let me know.

The 8th & 9th graders will be going on a field trip to the University of Utah on Wednesday, May 24th. Instead of sending a permission slip home, I am going to try doing this through Google Forms. Please read the information, fill out the form, and submit it to me NO LATER THAN FRIDAY, MAY 12th. Also, if you are interested in chaperoning on this field trip, please indicate this on the form. There is no charge for chaperones. We will be meeting at the 5600 West Old Bingham Highway TRAX station in the morning and pick up will be at this same TRAX station in the afternoon.
