Sept. 18-22, 2017

Dear Parents,

WOW what an exciting day full of fun.  The Leonardo is an amazing place to visit.  If you haven’t already take a moment to ask your child what they enjoyed on our field trip.  It was an awesome day!!

A Huge    , without you we couldn’t have gone and had such a great experience!!

This week we will have a maps test on Thursday.  We have been going deeper into different types of maps, what’s on a map and labeling the continents and oceans.  Students should be ready by Thursday for our final test.  Their work will come home Wednesday so you can review that night.  If your child has been participating in class, singing the songs and being at school they should be able to ace this test without a problem.  If your child does not pass with 80% or higher they will be given their test for review to retake on Friday, Sept. 22 with a cap of 80%.  If you have any questions please feel free to contact me.

We have some events coming up such as parent/teacher conferences (PTC) that you need to be aware of. Mrs. Goff and I plan to send out sign ups by Friday so you can work them into your schedule.  Please see the dates tab to make note on your calendars.

We hope your child is loving 2nd grade as much as we are loving having them here.  Thank you for the opportunity to be your child’s teachers.

Aloha,

Shawnae Aiu

Welcome to 2nd grade. Oh My goodness your children are absolutely precious!! I have been delighted with their unique personalities and their unconditional acceptance and love. So far we have done a lot of get to know you projects, learned the classroom expectations, done several placement assessments, began to learn about maps and started to read a Magic Tree House book that we will be writing a book report on. I have been impressed with these delightful little people!! Mahalo for your patience while I worked on setting up my blog. I think it turned out to be user friendly however if you have any ideas that would make it even easier please drop me an email. I have placed directions with the item to make it easier so if you have any questions about the learning planner, click on that tab and it will explain about the LP and have a copy for you.

This week, Thursday, we will have a maps test.  Students are coming home with their maps books to study.  They need to be prepared to identify the 7 continents, 5 oceans, Equator, map key and compass Rose.

Mahalo Nui Loa for the opportunity to be your child’s teacher, I look forward to an amazing year.
Aloha,
Shawnae Aiu
