Second Grade Botanists

We are having SO much fun in science this week! We are learning about the life cycle of plants. There are so many fascinating facts about plants!

We dissected seeds and learned about the different parts of a seed.

Yesterday we talked about photosynthesis and played a fun seek and find game. This game helped our students understand that carbon dioxide and water turns into food for the plant and oxygen thanks to the power of the sun!

We had 5 hungry plants that needed to make food. Our sun took the carbon dioxide and water and turned it into the sugar the plants need to eat and the oxygen we need to breathe.

Today we talked about chlorophyll and it’s role in photosynthesis. We made some amazing chlorophyll rubbings, too!

And the finished products….. Look at all that green chlorophyll!

And check out our sprout houses and seeds.

Happy LEARNing!
