Happy Monday!!!

I hope you all enjoyed your weekend!

***For our Monthly Expression Styles (November- Drama and December-Music) we are combining the two and by the help of Mrs. Worland we will have a Fantabulous Holiday Show for you!! I will let you know an exact date and time once we get it set in stone.

***Cluster Showcase is Friday – November 17th – 4:00-6:00

***BoxTops – We are working towards our goal of 400 this month, in hopes of getting a Free Dress Down Day in December!! Thank you for helping us reach that goal!!! 🙂

Our Week At A Glance:

Math: We are working on Module 4.  Module 4 builds on the place value understanding, which enables students to compose and decompose place value units to add and subtract within 200. Lessons 2-6 this week.

Language Arts: Continue working on different shades of meaning verbs.  The verbs that gradually get more exciting and descriptive.  They help us become more engaged in what we are reading and broaden our vocabulary.

Social Studies: Begin working on our Geography unit.

2nd Grade Choice Menu(Homework): Students will be getting a reading calendar this week, 20 minutes every school night is the minimum expectation. Please initial and record how many minutes were read each night. ReadingLogOctNov2017 Rather than homework, 2nd grade has opted to use a choice menu, this will be sent home this week, but will be found on the blog after this week. Once your kiddo has completed an assignment, please fill in the ticket tab at the bottom of the page and return to school the following Monday. I purposely did not send home the choice menu because I wanted us to get through Halloween before we focused on their choices.  It is being sent home with them today.  ChoiceMenuWeek9

Specials Rotations: 12:00-12:40 – Monday – PE – Tuesday – Computers – Wednesday – Library(books brought back weekly) – Thursday – Music and PE (2:00-2:40)

Library- Please remind your kiddos to bring their library books back weekly, they don’t have to turn it in, but just get it renewed weekly so it doesn’t turn up overdue or lost. I talked to kiddos who still have books out from early on this year and they are wanted back as soon as possible.

Friday Journals~ Friday journals will also go home with your students in their backpacks on Fridays. This is a journal where they will be writing to someone in the home about their amazing week. Please take some time over the weekends to write back to them. This is a great way for them to practice their writing skills but to also be able to communicate what is going on at school. I know that my class is really excited to hear from you each week! Thank you for your help and support on this.

Tutoring~  Tutoring will be Monday-Thursday from 3:00-4:00.  I will be doing a combination of Math and Reading.  Monday/Tuesday will be Math and Wednesday/Thursday will be Reading.  I can do every Tuesday but the 1st Tuesday of the month, as I have a mandatory meeting those days.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Tutoring~  Math and Reading will be offered Wednesday and Thursday from 3:00 – 4:00. We have decided to run tutoring a little different this year as the second grade teachers will be working with any second graders that may need additional help. Mrs. Ketcham will be doing Math in her classroom 111 and I will be doing Reading in room 113. Please let me know if you would like your kiddo to stay after school on these days to get additional support and what area(s) you’d like them to stay for. This will be a great benefit for our students, since we know what they’ll be working on during school and will know where we can give additional support.
