Tomorrow the Junior High Students will be going on a field trip to the Capitol! We will be taking the train and walking as well. Please be sure to wear comfortable shoes! Students will need to be picked up at the train station at 3:23 (when the front runner is scheduled to arrive). If you have any other questions please contact myself or one of the other Junior High teachers.
Mrs. Anderson has officially left on leave to have her baby! Everyone is so excited for her! My name is Mrs. Hilton and I will be filling in for her while she is out. I am excited to get to know everyone. Please be patient the first few days as I transition in, I am trying to make sure that I have everything in order and keep up with where Mrs. Anderson left off! If you have any question please feel free to contact me! My email is email@example.com!
Here is a reminder of the late work policy per the course disclosure:
“Students may turn in late work up to one week after the original due date for a penalty of 75% of what the assignment would have received had it been completed on time. . . Any extenuating circumstances must be discussed with the teacher before the assignment’s due date (but is not a guarantee of an extension).”
Wednesday, September 13 will be my last day at Ascent before going on maternity leave.
Mrs. Sarah Hilton will be taking over as my substitute beginning Thursday, September 14. You can reach her at firstname.lastname@example.org.
You can also still reach me at email@example.com. I will be in contact with Mrs. Hilton during my maternity leave as needed.
If you have any questions or concerns I can answer before my leave, please don’t hesitate to contact me.
Please remember to bring a “recreational” reading book whenever we have class on the short Friday bell schedule. I will periodically hold surprise “book checks” for ten points. There is no partial credit – you either have a book (ten points) or you don’t (zero points).
On early out Fridays, we will almost always spend the 20-minute class period one of two ways: 1) free reading time, or 2) taking a Read Theory quiz.
It is every student’s responsibility to have their own book they are reading for personal enjoyment apart from our assigned class novel. Ascent Academy wants all students reading twenty minutes nightly at home.
You may not count any of the class novels on my shelves as your own personal “recreational” reading book when I conduct a book check in class. Please visit your local library, Ascent’s school library, or the personal library of a family member or friend to find a book to be reading in your free time.
Let me know if you have questions (or want book recommendations!).
Please check your grade level class page for updates on your assignments and class announcements.
You can always email me at firstname.lastname@example.org if you have questions.
Please visit your respective class page (7th, 8th, or 9th) to find your course disclosure. Parents/guardians and students should read and sign the disclosures together.
Disclosures are an assignment due back on 8/28 (A day) or 8/29 (B day) and worth 10 points.
Disclosures that are returned by 8/24 (A day) or 8/25 (B day) will be given extra credit.
Hi students! Welcome back to school. I am excited to be back at Ascent for the second year, and I’m looking forward to seeing the eighth and ninth grade students again and meeting the incoming seventh graders and new students. It is going to be a great year.
I am currently working on finishing the course disclosures. They will be added to this blog soon, which will allow you to look up what you need to know for the first week of class.
In the meantime, don’t forget that JH registration is Monday, August 21 from 12:00-2:00 and Back to School Night is that evening from 4:00-6:00.
